Overcast Plans is a record I mostly put together from 2006 to 2008, following my EP Think it Through. I was growing by leaps and bounds as a singer-songwriter and this material is some of the most focused that I created along those lines. It is also the product of a deep collaboration with my best friend and closest musical partner, John Platter. When I entered college in the Fall of 2007, I tried to push really hard to finish this material. I continued doing overdubs for tracks that were almost complete in the dorm rooms of Berklee with brand new friends I had met, and even continued basics tracking for some songs I had finished writing but never fully completed. Eventually, I just got too overwhelmed with school work to continue focusing my attention on it.

15 years later, while searching for the best way to re-engage with my creativity as a musician after years of focusing on my work as a creative technologist, I decided that getting some of my old material past the finish line would be the best way to move forward. And if any project was going to get my attention first, it was Overcast Plans. And so in May of 2023, I made it happen. It became an exercise in 33 year-old me playing a support role to 18 year-old me. I decided on the final tracklist, wrote a couple extra little bits of new music to string it all together (the intros to “Give Me a Clue” and “Sine-Like”), mastered the whole thing, quickly grabbed some cool artwork from the sketches that my partner Britney had laying around, and got it up on Bandcamp. So here it is!
